PRSA Foundation Honors Dan Edelman with 2013 Paladin Award

New York, NY.— The PRSA Foundation will honor the life and career of the late Daniel J. Edelman at its annual Paladin Dinner on Thursday, April 24, 2013 at the Bryant Park Grill in New York City. Edelman, founder of the firm that bears his name, died in January at age 92.

“The event honors “Paladins,” public relations industry champions who inspire all of us to grow and strive for excellence,” said Lou Capozzi, Foundation president. “The term Paladin, an heroic advocate of a noble cause in medieval times, certainly describes Dan well,” he added.

Home Permanent Co. From those humble roots he built Edelman into the world’s largest public relations firm. He was a long-standing member of PRSA, and served the organization in a number of leadership positions. A scholarship in his name is awarded annually to outstanding PRSSA students.

The Paladin Award will be presented to Richard Edelman, president of the firm his father founded 60 years ago. Richard’s tribute to his father will be introduced by last year’s Paladin honoree, Harold Burson. “Now, as Edelman stands as a leader in the field we can all look back proudly at the legacy Dan created,” said Capozzi.

The PRSA Foundation’s Paladin Dinner honors champions — industry leaders who have been advocates for the public relations profession. Previous recipients of the award include Harold Burson, Jon Iwata, Marcia Silverman and John Graham.

Co-chairs of this year’s dinner are Richard Edelman and Jonathan Blum of Yum Brands. Vice-chair of the event is Jon Harris of Hillshire Brands. Several hundred public relations leaders are expected to attend.
